Athlete of the week :Jack Patrick Garner

Jack and I met working together at a restaurant down on the peninsula. When I started training for my first marathon, Jack and I would train together, from there we ran our first two Ultra Marathons together. He’s been a great friend over the past 6 years and we have made some unforgettable memories (a lot we cant mention on here). Its great having him back on the trails this year, I’ve missed him..Don’t tell him that though.

Occupation: Creative Consultant for a Soap Merchant and freelance ultra marathon runner

The sport you train for
: Sky Running and Anderson Street hill repetitions.

Favourite event?: To date, probably Buffalo Stampede, you don’t often get to enjoy climbing up hills on all fours!

Most memorable moment in racing? : Getting lost on my first 100kM (more like 95kM!) down on the Wilsons Promontory and being utterly confused as to why Ultra chef was behind me!

Daily Diet:

Breakfast: Granola with yoghurt and a Greek coffee
Lunch: Leftovers or a tuna salad
Dinner: Mediterranean styles, fish with a Greek salad
Snacks: Fresh seasonal fruit with yoghurt and lots of Greek coffee

Favourite Weekly meal you cook? : Saturday morning, post ride, scrambled eggs on sourdough with smashed avocado and feta, roasted mushrooms and tomatoes

What do you eat/ drink when you run for nutrition? Sky juice and espresso flavoured Hammer gels

Why do you run?: I run, therefore I am.
